Digital Scrapbooking

I bought a laptop a couple of months ago.  And then bought a new version of Photoshop Elements.  And I find that I’m doing more digital scrapbooking because of it.  Watching TV?  Scrapbook.  At work and have some time at lunch?  Scrapbook.  I may be in a bit of danger here.  My sister tells me I CAN’T be a digital scrapbooker (what’s so bad about that?).  I love paper scrapping so much that I kind of doubt I’ll ever go completely digital.  But… who knew there were so many cute digital kits out there?  I’ve kind of fallen in love with Jen Allyson’s Spot Color collection, found at Two Peas.  And I love that I can re-use items over and over.  That I can change placement of items on a page without worrying about adhesive.  That it’s just so… portable.  A few recent pages (products used by Jenn Allyson, Sande Krieger, and Jen Martakis, all from Two Peas in a Bucket):

Already in Progress

If I blog about it, then I have to do it, right?  I’m such a procrastinator…

I have a few projects going that need to be completed, by Christmas:

making Christmas cards (maybe to sell, too?)

finishing an album for a gift

photo editing/organizing

creating and ordering a photobook

dejunking my scraproom, selling/donating some stuff I’m no longer using and hoarding, for some reason (did I mention I’m a pack rat?)  Maybe I should call this “simplifying”.

finish the last TWO BPS classes I registered for

<--listening to a bunch of great new music (while I’m doing everything else!).  P.S. Have I mentioned that Michael Buble makes me happy?

I think I’d better get to work!

I only blog in months starting with the letter A

No posts since April?  Is anyone out there wondering what's up?  I've been microblogging... and feeling like there isn't much going on in my world worth blogging about.  And yet, here I am again.  So we'll see how things turn out this go-round... will the blog survive until April?  Tune in to find out!

This weekend my mom and I are hosting a baby shower for my sister - who had a sweet baby boy at the end of June.  Menu, games, decorations are all planned... and I hope to take some photos of the event and post them here. 

Over the summer we've definitely had a lot of fun.  Though the weather has been less than cooperative and unseasonably cold at times, my two weeks of vacation were perfect and much needed.  The best and most important events:  an amazing family reunion, a baby blessing, and my brother and his family visiting from BC.  Again, all events for another post ... and lots of pictures to accompany.  I'm working on my laptop right now (and an aside here... does anyone else hate laptop keyboards?  I keep hitting the caps lock instead of the shift key.  and it's annoying) so all of my pictures are on my desktop.  But stay tuned!  Posts to come!

To leave you with a little bit of happiness...  The brave and amazing Stephanie just celebrated a milestone.  I've blogged about Stephanie and her family before, but if you haven't checked her blog out, please do.  She is truly inspiring.

Snow Day

After a few days of balmy spring weather, we’re back to winter… and I love it!  Spring snows never stick around long – and all this lovely moisture will make everything beautifully green.  The roads were terrible today – hence the stay-at-home snow day.  Everything is just budding and blooming and now under about a foot of snow.  But what do I care?  I’ll worry about it tomorrow.  If it’s still here.

So today I’m scrapbooking, and watching Les Miserables (the 10th anniversary concert – so good!) and wishing my nephew a happy birthday (happy 4th, bud!) and taking a nap and eating leftover Easter chocolate (BAD!).  Hope you’re having a cozy day, too!

Thanks, That Was Fun

I know I'm a week or so late in posting about Steven Page leaving BNL, but I haven't been able to say much about it without being incredibly sad.  I'm surprised I feel so affected by it - even though they've been my favorite band since I first heard them back in 1991.  And that's all I'll say about it, because I really do love and respect them as musicians and people, and I hope they're happy with their decision, and I can't wait to hear music in the future from BNL and Steven Page.

Every Day

I'm a creature of habit.  I have a daily routine that is not often deviated from.  Get up, get ready, go to work, come home, supper, computer/tv/read/laundry/etc., bed.  Fairly predictable.  One of the things I do while on the computer every day is read Ree Drummond's blog, Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.  And unless you've been living under a rock, I suspect you've happened across it yourself.  Truly, this blog is delightful, informative (sometimes a bit TMI *cough*calfnuts*cough*), charming, funny, and altogether outstanding.  So it should be no surprise that her blog was just named as one of Time Magazine's 25 Best Blogs of 2009.  So congratulations, Ree!  If anyone reads this little 'ol blog, I'm more than happy to send them your way.

Happy New Year!

I know, it's already mid-February.  I just realized that with all the changes to the blog, I actually should be making some effort to post.  Unfortunately, I'm home sick with a nasty head cold today, so this post will be short and sweet, after which I'llbe crawling back into bed.  I did a bit of scrapbooking last night, so I'll round out the post with a page - then it's back to lala land for me!
